Restaurant SaporDivino Siena | Grand Hotel Continental

  • Cuisine

    The decisive flavour of Tuscany

In its simplicity, Sienese cuisine epitomises the fundamental ingredients and flavours of Tuscany as a whole.
The Sienese style bears the imprint of the region’s history and geography, and is based on the local farm produce, including the meats of native breeds, and on truly exceptional olive oil. Agriculture is embodied in practically every dish in the Sienese culinary repertoire, and accordingly, as a diner in our restaurant you are sure to be enraptured by the pure, decisive flavours of traditional recipes passed down and perfected over the generations.
And since no dish in the Tuscan tradition can be considered complete without a glass of fine wine, we will be delighted to let you discover our local wineries and the very best wines made in this part of Italy, which are stored in our wine cellar within the palazzo’s mediaeval tower.

  • SaporDivino Restaurant

    The Paradise of great taste

In the SaporDivino restaurant at the Grand Hotel Continental in Siena, you can recognise, appreciate and savour the unmistakable stylistic signature of Chef Luca Ciaffarafà’s very particular take on Tuscan cuisine.
While promoting with great conviction the virtues of the local produce, Luca interprets traditional Tuscan cooking in a highly personal way, offering an engaging menu that represents the gastronomic history of the region, which is both ancient and modern at the same time.
Alongside a mouthwatering menu of creative recipes based on seasonal produce, the restaurant offers diners a series of historic spaces of great refinement, including the enchanting courtyard with its stylish glass cupola, and the Gori Room, with its impressive ceilings – all these features combine to make the SaporDivino Restaurant the perfect place both for a romantic dinner and for banquets or business lunches and dinners in the historical heart of Siena.

  • Our Chef

    Luca Ciaffarafà

Chef Luca Ciaffarafà, a Tuscan through and through, caught the cooking bug early on, in the restaurant owned by his grandparents, and has never looked back.
His approach in the kitchen is shot through with his deep association with Tuscany and its produce, constituting the launch pad for all of his recipes, which make the most of the local strengths, re-casting them in a thoroughly modern key. In his cooking, the traditional flavours and simple dishes of long ago are reinterpreted tastefully and with great creativity, with a view to satisfying even the most exacting of palates, through concoctions that, while unique, pay respectful homage to his regional routes.

  • Enoteca SaporDivino

A historic custodian of the finest Tuscan wines

Given that it is one of the most important stop-offs on the great Tuscan wine routes, Siena is home to numerous excellent wineries whose products are proudly featured on our extensive wine list.
The Enoteca SaporDivino, in the heart of Siena, is very much a one-off, since it is located in the base of the palazzo’s mediaeval tower, which was only rediscovered relatively recently. The original 13th-century walls play host to hundreds of bottles of great Italian wine, from the very best Tuscan producers, ready to be sampled by our guests, guided by highly experienced barmen and sommeliers.
The cellar – an exclusive, atmospheric location – is also available to host group tastings and sophisticated business meetings.
