From October 29 to November 30 Siena returns to the limelight of international art photography thanks to a scattered exhibition that for 30 days will make way for personal and collective shows, dozens of workshops, photo tours, seminars and talks. An unforgettable travel experience tailored to photography lovers, the perfect excuse to explore one of the world’s most beautiful medieval destinations through original and stimulating photography-related initiatives.
The Grand Hotel Continental – Starhotels Collezione, a beguiling 5-star boutique hotel located in a 17th-century palazzo a short distance from Piazza del Campo, which became part of the Starhotels Group in July 2016, is an official partner of the Siena Art Photo Travel Festival 2016, fully embracing this major international cultural event. The hotel will be the location par excellence for the photography exhibition by Melissa Farlow, a top name in art photography who has contributed for years to National Geographic.
In the sumptuous halls of the Grand Hotel Continental, Farlow make her European debut with the show “The Last Wild Horses of the West”, a collection of the most beautiful and significant images in the book “Wild at Heart: Mustangs and the Young People Fighting to Save Them”. The photography reflects the American’s deep love for wild Mustangs, now on the brink of extinction due to the gradual loss of their natural habitat. On 30 October a course in documentary photography held by the artist is also scheduled, which will kick off the Festival’s entire workshop program.
An event not to be missed in the unique setting of Siena, whose autumnal colours and flavors originate in rural traditions: from oil to wine, truffles and honey, an authentic “escape into beauty and taste” in an area famous worldwide for its striking art and scenery.
During the Siena Art Photo Travel Festival, accommodation for two in a classic double room at the Grand Hotel Continental – Starhotels Collezione starts from 265€, breakfast included.
